2426 (Pencoed) Squadron is located in Pencoed, near Bridgend.
We have Cadets from all around the Pencoed and Bridgend area and with the ATC having a current membership of some 35,000 Cadets in the UK, the chances are you may know someone is or has been a Cadet!
Most ATC Squadrons meet twice a week in the evenings, and we are no exception. A typical evening will see Cadets undergoing training in a well defined syllabus including how aircraft fly, air navigation, propulsion, map reading, the Squadron band, campcraft, satellite and radio communications, the RAF and many more.
We also provide opportunities to take up sports such as Football, Rugby, Swimming, Hockey and even Archery! You can compete in various levels all the way up to Corp Level (i.e. Representing the Air Training Corp in a particular sport)
Many weekends will be taken up with activities such as flying, gliding, target rifle shooting, hiking, camping, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, visits to RAF stations and putting many of the subjects taught in the classroom into practice.
All activities are voluntary, it’s up to you what you get involved with, though the Squadron has an excellent team spirit and it’s an opportunity to try new activities and make loads of new friends.
